Terms of Service

These terms are an agreement between you and TEXT EVA LLC, which operates Texteva, texteva.com and the Texteva text line (“Texteva,” “we,” “us”).

The short version: you text us about your house, we get the right licensed person there and stay on it until it’s done, you pay them directly, and you never pay us.

What we do

Texteva is a coordination service. You text one number about anything to do with your house. We work out who needs to come, we send someone we already use, we get them scheduled, we check the work was finished, and we keep a written record of your home — your Home File — so nobody has to go looking for a model number in a panic.

Texting Eva is free. Texting Eva about the house is free for anyone, with nothing to sign and no card on file. The optional membership ($499 a year or $49 a month) adds two home visits a year, the house record and seasonal reminders. Repairs are billed by the pro, directly, at their own price.

What we do not do

We do not perform work of any kind. Texteva is not a contractor and does not do repairs, installations, maintenance or labour at your property. Everything that happens at the house is done by an independent licensed and insured provider who contracts with you directly.

We do not judge prices or workmanship. We pass on what a provider tells us, in their words, unchanged. We will not tell you whether a price is right, whether one bid beats another, whether the scope is correct, or whether the work was done well. Those judgements are yours and the provider’s. If you want a professional opinion on any of them, hire one — and we will help you find them.

Nothing we do is an inspection. Anything we note, photograph or mention is a layperson’s observation. It is not a home inspection and not a professional opinion on condition, safety, habitability or code compliance. We are not licensed inspectors, engineers, appraisers, contractors, attorneys or insurance advisors.

We are not a warranty or an insurance product. We do not pay for repairs and we do not guarantee that anything in your house keeps working.

Licensed providers

Every provider we send is an independent business. They quote you, they contract with you, they bill you at their own price, and they warrant their own work. We are not their employer, partner, agent or guarantor.

Before anyone comes to your house we check a current licence in the correct classification against the state licensing database where a licence is required, and we keep a certificate of insurance on file. Verifying a licence is not a promise about the quality of the work.

We never hold your money. We do not accept payment on a provider’s behalf, hold deposits, pay their invoices for you, or keep a card on file for repair charges.

How we are paid. Providers on our list buy marketing services from us under their own agreement with Texteva. That is between us and them. It is not a share of your job, it is not calculated from what your work costs, and nothing is added to what you pay.

Emergencies

This is not an emergency service. If there is water running, gas smelling, smoke, sparks, or anyone in danger — call 911 or your utility first, and tell us afterwards.

Spending

You may set a dollar figure. Under it, we arrange things and tell you afterwards. Over it, we come back to you with what the provider said, and we wait. We do not authorise work on your behalf, and silence is never a yes.

The one exception: if a provider reports active water, gas, fire or a genuine safety hazard and we cannot reach you, we may relay the minimum step needed to stop the damage.

Your Home File

The record we keep of your house is free and it is yours. You can ask to see it any time and we will send you a link. We keep it for as long as you want it, including if you stop using us, so that coming back never means starting over. Ask us to delete it and we will, and we will confirm when it is done. Gate codes, lockbox combinations and alarm codes are never stored in it.

Responsibility

We are responsible for our own conduct, done with reasonable care. We carry general liability insurance and will show you the certificate on request.

We are not responsible for the work, delay, pricing, conduct, damage or warranty of a licensed provider — your remedy against them is against them, and we will help you pursue it. Nor for conditions that already existed, for anything we were not asked about, or for consequential losses such as lost rent or a missed closing.

Keep your homeowner’s policy current. This service is not insurance and replaces no part of it.

Text messages

Program: Texteva texts are about your home and your membership: scheduling and appointment confirmations, approvals before spending goes over the limit you set, updates when a visit or job is done, and occasional offers about Texteva's own membership and seasonal visits. Marketing texts are limited to a few a month.

How to opt in: signing up on any form at texteva.com means we can text and email you about your home: scheduling, appointment reminders and confirmations, updates on your jobs, and occasional offers. There is nothing to check. Signing up is not required to buy anything, and you can reply STOP at any time.

Frequency and cost: message frequency varies with what your house needs. Message and data rates may apply. Carriers are not liable for delayed or undelivered messages.

Opt out and help: reply STOP to any message to stop texts. You will get one message confirming it, and no more. Reply HELP for help, or email hello@texteva.com or call (385) 336-5942.

Age Restriction: You must be 18 years or older to participate in our SMS program.

Your mobile number and text-message consent are never sold or shared with third parties or affiliates for marketing purposes. See our Privacy Policy.

Stopping

Any time. Text us and say so, or just stop texting. There is no term, no notice period, no penalty and members can cancel anytime. We keep your Home File either way, at no charge, unless you ask us to delete it.

The rest

We may update these terms with 30 days’ written notice. If part of them is unenforceable, the rest stands. These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Utah, and any dispute will be heard in the courts of Utah County, Utah. Texting us, or asking us to arrange anything at your house, is your acceptance of these terms.

About our service

Texteva is not a licensed contractor. We perform only work that does not require a contractor license. Plumbing, electrical, gas and combustion, HVAC, fire suppression and radon mitigation, and larger projects, are performed by independent, licensed and insured contractors who contract with and bill the homeowner directly. We do not perform, supervise the means and methods of, or warrant that work.

Texteva is not a licensed contractor. We perform no construction or repair work of any kind. Plumbing, electrical, gas and combustion, HVAC, fire suppression and radon mitigation — and any project of $7,000 or more including materials — are performed by independent, licensed and insured contractors who contract with and bill the homeowner directly. We do not perform, supervise the means and methods of, or warrant that work.

We do not advise on construction pricing, scope, or workmanship. We relay what providers tell us, without alteration or opinion; providers set their own scopes, prices and warranties, and the homeowner selects, contracts with and pays the provider directly. We refer state-licensed inspectors when an inspection is appropriate.

This is not a home warranty, service contract, or insurance product. We do not provide medical, nursing, or personal care services. We do not handle clients' funds, accounts, or bill payment.
